I met Andrea in 1998 when I first came to Munich to work for the International Data Group (IDG). During this time, Andrea was working for Macwelt Magazine. Andrea, then an Associate Publisher, left IDG in 2010 to start her own business in the field of public relation services.

Her philosophy is that every topic–even if it’s a complex issue–should be presented in an attractive way. I had never thought that I would find topics like 3D-printing or news on ITK and Hightech exciting. Little did I know: Ever since Andrea has been doing PR for such companies, and keeps on telling me about her work with clients, journalists and bloggers, these topics have grasped my attention and really appeal to me.

Andrea’s portfolio is all about public relations for Start-ups and SMEs. This means the all-inclusive package starts from Andrea writing press releases about media contacts to maintaining an external press office. She also does translations from English into German, which includes necessary adaptions for the German market be it metrics or language-style, as well as proof-reading and editing for websites, blogs, advertisements and other marketing texts. In addition, she arranges interviews, press conferences and meetings at tradeshows. Social media is one of her main topics, too.

Andrea normally focuses on long-term relationships and sometimes accepts project work. She has already given me many helpful tips, especially when I was starting my own business. One very helpful piece of advice she gave me was how to properly advertise articles on my website since in Germany you are not allowed to offer a magazine-article for download on your website without the specific approval of the publisher.
